A free, optional companion for fan, temperature and supported GPU readings. CPU, memory and network work independently.

Release signing, Apple notarization and compatibility checks are still in progress. A signed release will be available here at no extra cost. The companion cannot unlock the app.

Install and enable

Download the release from this page, move iStateBar Sensors to Applications and open it. Choose Enable background readings. If macOS asks, allow its background activity in System Settings. Return to iStateBar, open Sensor Companion in settings and choose Retry. Do not disable macOS security protections.

Stop or uninstall

Choose Stop background readings in the companion before moving it to Trash. Closing the control window alone does not stop an enabled service.

Permissions and compatibility

The current companion reads hardware as your regular user and needs approval for background activity. It does not need Accessibility, Full Disk Access, Screen Recording, microphone or camera access, and installs no root service. Readings stay on your Mac. Sensor availability varies by hardware and macOS. macOS 13 is the minimum target; the latest macOS takes priority. Other hardware and the formally signed release still need validation.
